Please ensure your manuscript is formatted such that it is easy to read. Some points to keep in mind:
- Pick a clear, simple font. Good examples are Times New Roman, Calibri, or Garamond. Contrary to traditional manuscript formatting, we ask that you do NOT use Courier New.
- Use black font on a white background.
- Do not include decorative images.
- You may include your contact information directly on your manuscript, for both regular and contest submissions. If you would prefer, you may include a cover letter, but it is not required.
- Our submission manager, for fiction submissions and poetry contest submissions only (essays and regular poetry should be submitted by mail), will accept .doc, .docx, .pdf, .txt, and .rtf files.
- Prose writers: Please double space!
- Poets: Indicate when a stanza carries over unbroken onto the following page, e.g., you may add in parentheses “(stanza continues)” at the bottom of the page.
